Dear Friends,
The Warfield would like to invite our friends at Non Profit and Community Organizations to come down this Friday night, November 10th for the Indigo Girls ! Join us for an intimate evening of music with the Indigo Girls.
Legendary folk rock duo, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers , aka the Indigo Girls, first burst onto the scene in 1989 and haven't looked back since. For the last 20 years, the Indigo Girls have been making great folk rock records with their trademark intertwined vocals. They've had hits with songs such as Closer To Fine, Galileo, and Least Complicated. In 1989 they won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Recording.
Their live performances have been described as: straightforward, direct emotion; powerful, passionate songwriting; two guitars and two voices that connect totally with an audience of longtime devotees.
Devoted environmental and social justice activists and lifelong music-industry mavericks, the Girls have spent their entire career pushing boundaries on a variety of fronts. Why stop now?
Amy and Emily criss-crossed the country on tour, headlining or supporting the likes of R.E.M., Neil Young and the Violent Femmes. on the strength of their impassioned live performances and the hit single and video, "closer to fine," Indigo Girls was certified gold in September, 1989. They created a rapid following through their relentless touring, including a headlining slot on the Lilith Fair music festival tour.
Indigo Girls music, says Amy Ray, is "a gift, some force that's being passed through us. There's no point in questioning it or trying to figure it out." And as their audience continues to expand, at home and abroad, Amy insists that "no matter how many people we play for, it's always been important to us to reach each one of them. That isn't going to change."
The Indigo Girls have been active politically and musically. Among others, they have championed the causes of the environment, gay rights, the rights of Native Americans and the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.
